Apple Tree

Water drips
drip
drip
on my tiny apple tree.
I grew it from a seed,
full of hope for
what it would bring
to me.

It will be years
before my apple tree
bears fruit,
perhaps longer.

Sheltered in my home
my apple tree
will never face
the harshness of winter,
the dryness of summer,
protected as it is in my home.

Perhaps it will blossom,
full of my dreams,
my apple tree in my home.

I have grown it
from a seed
my apple tree.
Grown to
love it,
nourish it,
water it.
Keeping it safe
in my home.

One day I will have to
let it face the world
outside,
my little apple tree,
but for now
I’ll keep it safe
in my home.
