Neat little tidbit I found on an Archaeology news website.
Prehistoric man found with a shield – http://www.pocklingtonpost.co.uk/news/local/prehistoric-man-with-shield-found-after-dig-1-7234622
Fantastic discovery. I can’t imagine living someplace where every step you take you have a possible vast array of archaeological treasure beneath you. Where I am, much of the record gets eaten by the acidic soil of my area. Sad. There is also a wealth of information that could be here, if we could get to it before it erodes.
Controversy erupts over ancient ‘theatre’ in Alexandria – http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/9/41/128693/Heritage/GrecoRoman/Controversy-erupts-over-ancient-theatre-in-Alexand.aspx
Interesting how differing views, politics and what have you can affect the nature, length or indeed the rights to dig. Hopefully nothing gets lots in the shuffle.
Archaeology – where theory, evidence, and great story telling come together as one.
